Passing of Patterson FD's CHIEF JOHN "SNOOKY" COVELL

Our sincere condolences go out to the Patterson Fire Department on the death of its 60-yr Member, Past Chief John "Snooky" Covell, who passed away on August 26, 2026 at the age of 79. He was also a member of the Putnam County VFA, joining our association in 1972.

John Covell served his community well, through his life membership with the Patterson FD, which included his leading the department as Chief as well as Vice-President, Trustee and Captain, plus his commitment to the community as a long-time Little League coach and board member of the Maple Avenue Cemetery Association.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 31 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery.
